An Introduction to Home Automation

Home Automation in Scottsdale, AZ.

Home automation is the best way to control all of your smart devices and all of your home audio and video equipment.  It can be confusing because there are so many options available.  We are here to help you understand all of the possibilities that home automation can offer you.  Our team has over 50 years of home theater and home automation experience serving the North Scottsdale, AZ area and we use our expertise to help our customers design a home automation system that is going to exceed their expectations.

Why does home automation have to be so confusing?

Simply put, there are a lot of options and the additional choices make things even more complicated.  Do it yourself options are a very common choice for our customers but can be difficult to get everything to work together.  They also require multiple apps to control everything.   We are here to show you how you can run your house from a single app.  This simplifies how you use your system and puts everything in one place.

We are here to help you navigate the options and create a design that is going to meet you and your family’s needs.  We install home automation systems that run from one app and make sure that it is so easy to use that your in-laws could operate it.

Our home automation brands:

We offer automation options from Control4, Savant, and Crestron.  We offer these three automation brands so that we can meet the needs of our customers and have limitless options for what we can do.  With these and others, we can cover all of our customer’s needs and make sure that you have a home automation system that you absolutely love.

We design systems that are as unique as our customers.  We know our customers are not cookie cutters and we approach each design with that in mind.  Your design is going to be custom-tailored to meet your specific needs.  We pride ourselves on advanced and complex designs and our ability to make them very easy to use.  Integrating distributed audio and distributed video can be very complicated, but with a good home automation system, it can be simple.

We make it so that anyone can use your system easily and it doesn’t require an owners’ manual.

Customer Home Automation Case Study:

Let’s dive into a case study for our average customer.  Most of our customers have a control system in their house and usually a very basic distributed audio system.  We come in to check it out because our customer isn’t getting the functionality that they were promised and are frustrated with their current integrators.  At this point, we take a look at the overall design, the hardware, and the programming to see how we can improve the functionality and get the most from the system.

From here, we start our takeover of what products are there or we design a new system.  With a takeover, we make sure that all of the necessary hardware is in place the programming is correct.  Once we figure out the deficiencies, we start to address the options with our customers.

Our customers are dealing with integrators that over promise and under deliver.  That is not how we do business and are ashamed that integrators leave jobs almost done.

We always deliver what we promise and never leave an install incomplete.

A benefit of home automation is the ability to integrate all kinds of different products into a whole-home system.  This allows us to control your shades, your thermostat, your cameras, your network, etc.  We look at your whole house and design an automation system that is going to work best for you and your family.  What your system can do is only limited by your imagination.

Home Automation Voice Control

A growing segment of home automation is voice control from companies like Alexa from Amazon and Google Assistant.  Voice control is an evolving option and we are working with our customers to see what options work best for them.  We help our customers understand what works best for them.

DIY Home Automation:

We do not recommend do it yourself products and do not install them.  We are discussing them because they are a segment of home automation that is growing. Ring, EERO, and Nest are just a few.

The biggest issues we see with any of these products are that they are bound to their own product mix to work well with each other.  Nest works with Nest, Ring with Ring, etc.  There are some options to integrate them but not the level that we get from actual automation products.

Do it yourself products are designed to be installed by you and run from their app and that’s it.   There is not a high level of customization or integration that can be done with them.

Once again, we do not recommend DIY products.
